okay, i love michael jackson. to tell you honestly, it’s amazing how he has touched my life, given that most of his earlier albums with the exception of the invincible “you rock my world” album, were released before i was born, or while i was still an ignorant child below 10. in spite of his numerous indiscretions with plastic surgery, drugs, child molestation  & romance with older women what-not, the fact remains is that he is, and always will be the greatest performer of our time. shucks, he will be the greatest performer of all time. there will never be anyone quite like michael, he truly transcends generation.

all the ruthless gossip columns and reports on his life aside, i think underneath the great music and performer is someone who has truly sacrificed himself to built the ultimate celebrity music artiste persona: the king of pop. you have a boy who has performed since he was 5! the kind of life he must have had growing up, or the lack of time to grow-up, is tough for us to imagine. i feel it explains his obssession with children, his ultimate soft-spoken childlike nature, which probably resulted from his lack of a normal childhood.

MJ is phenomenal, in every sense of the word. it’s funny how you develop such intense feelings of loss for a person who is so far removed from your daily life, flitting only in the peripheral of your awareness through news headlines.

then it hit me why the sense of loss is so acute: the music. this is one person who aimed to heal the world, and in the end, his own life, with music. not forgetting of course, the message that resonates throughout: make the world a better place for the children.
